Alexoria: exploit the internet to generate good leads for new business

We know from speaking to leaders of technology, software and professional services firms that many – if not all – are concerned with finding new business.  The reality is that far too many firms lack a business pursuit process that consistently produces good leads for new business and predictably fills their pipelines.

The internet presents an opportunity to do just this – but many firms are overlooking this opportunity or not exploiting it to its full.  For example, we recently helped one such organisation increase the number of good leads it receives from the internet by over 500%.  Another increased year-on-year revenues by 70% by generating the majority of its leads from the internet.

eggxactly ltd

James Seddon invented the Eggxactly water free egg cooker. It was designed as a “toaster for boiled eggs” cooking the egg just the way you want it using a fraction of the energy of a pan and water. James appeared on Dragons’ Den last summer where he attracted offers of investment from both Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh. Since then a considerable amount of work has been done with the help of the High Growth Business Club, and the launch of the first of this range of egg cookers is planned to take place before next spring. The product is to be made in the UK, and has global appeal.

Mydeo

Cary Marsh got the idea for Mydeo when she wanted to share videos of her first son with family and friends. Video streaming services were very expensive but Cary could see a way of offering individual consumers an affordable, easy and private service so quit her job and set up the company. Cary and her partner, Iain, had great technical skills (bringing together the technology components for the service took over a year of meticulous research & development) but bringing the idea to market needed additional resources. Using the KIC Knowledge Angel Equity scheme, Cary was able to draw on finance, marketing, accountancy, sales, PR and IP skills when she needed them.

The KIC team also helped her obtain a £56,000 DTI Technical Innovation Award to match the seed funding she had already secured. This allowed her to make the service market ready and the first big break through came when Mydeo became the European partner for sharing videos from Windows XP’s Moviemaker. Deals with Tiscali and Orange quickly followed and Mydeo now attracts 2,000 new members a week in over 180 countries. 75% of company revenues come from outside the UK.

the trojan 3-d gym

The 3-D Gym is a culmination of 10 years work and research, which has resulted in a double award winning business opportunity. The final product is a weight lifting safety apparatus to which to the industry has aspired to for 50 years. Previous attempts have resulted in ideas and products that failed to satisfy a demanding £400M/year market.

The theory behind to 3-D Gym is one that has been around since the ancient Greek, that is that free weights are the best way to train. Each individual moves in their own free way, free weights allow this to happen. However, present gym equipment, that is resistance equipment, are all one dimensional and restrictive. This way the user has a safe way to relinquish the resistance but the joints and tendons are placed under unnatural stress whilst training.

Conversely, free weights are cumbersome and difficult to relinquish as they have to be carefully place on rests that are in a fixed position.

The 3-D Gym eliminates all the disadvantages of both types of training but retains their respective advantages. This is achieved by having a resistance bar that within a system of guide rails which are unrestricted in their movement. The bar pushes the guide rails as the user exercises which allows the rests for the bar to be instantly available to take the weight when the point of exhaustion occurs.

The 3-D Gym is presently at the prototyping stage and requires a modest investments to move forward to preproduction prototype. It is protected by a GB Patent which is as yet unchallenged and is wholly owned by the Inventor.
